- A friend of mine has recently bought a Fujitsu HD from another guy. We tried
- to get it work via HdToolBox but we have experienced some problems.
-
- He tried it on its A3000, then moved to my a3000 (on which I have 3 hds),
- and still we've had problems.
-
- After having set up the drive type, When we clicked on 'save changes to drive'
- HDToolBox would return a "Error -1 on writing to disk!" (btw: is there a list
- of hdtoolbox error messages?); A "verify data on drive" returns an error in the
- RDB area (sometimes sector 28, sometimes sector 0); the low-level format won't
- work (it just hangs). Then I launched ProbeSCSI (god bless its author, it's a
- damned great thing!) and it reported quite a lot bad blocks (but I thought
- they weren't that much for a 1.2Gb hd); but after having had a close look I
- noticed that the 60% of them were the same, with sector/head/etc as "0".
-
- So I re-opened hdtoolbox and tried at least to update the bad blocks list,
- but after having entered the first entry, HDToolBox returns a "out of heads
- area", or something like that (sorry if i'm not precise).
-
- We jammed alot with jumpers, and still no gain.
-
- We reached the previous owner and he said he was using that hd on an a3000 !
- so I think it is due to hard handling when transported.
-
- still my friend would like to see it working :) anybody having any guesses?
-
- Please, respond via e-mail if you can. (mgiorgin@dsi.unive.it). Thank you!
